ADVENTURE/

RUTH POSTAL JOHNSON COLLABORATION

When my mother died she left a linen rug warp on her loom.

It took me a long time to work up the courage to weave that warp – to have the nerve to collaborate on her final piece.

Due to a mess of difficulties I had to relinquish weaving a rug as she had planned.  Knowing innately that she would approve, I re-threaded the warp for an Adventure – for an experimental piece that I didn’t know would work.

From her vast collection I chose an unusual yarn for the weft.  A cream wool spun with undulating variations so that it went from ‘Mae West’ to gossamer fine.

The resulting piece embodies two minds, two pairs of hands, a mother and daughter – across time, space & light. I think she would be pleased.
